This song was a gift… and its beautiful… It is the last song on my CD entitled SPIRITUALLY WET from my ‘fUnKyWhItEgIrL’ days back in early 2000’s when I was going by my then married name of Christina Fasano before I changed my last name and took on the roots/blues artist name of Cee Cee James.
This song message is is based on how we worry so much about getting ahead.. especially in the arena of wanting to be better people. From just wanting good moral character to full on spiritual enlightenment; or maybe just how we can get ahead in our lives in general or reach our dreams, and all the struggle and push and shove. It’s exhausting! But what I have learned is that life just moves us along.. it takes us there in every moment.. in all our challenges, in all our joys, struggles, successes and failures. We are exactly where we need to be, just standing in who we are at the moment and doing the best we can.
If we can quit beating up on ourselves, future-f-ing ourselves into fear about the unknown, and learn to let go into every moment during our temporary time here on this Earth, we will get there because life itself eventually takes us to where we need to be for our growth, our greatest lessons, our surrender.
For me.. the challenges are taking me to more and more peace and a true measure of joy within. To find peace with who we are. Peace with our past… our present. To let go of worrying about the future, it will take care of itself. Just for today.. standing in who we are, doing the best we can TODAY, making TODAY count as if we don’t have a tomorrow, and allowing our hearts to guide the way. I think that is the true dream of the soul journey. Nothing to prove to anyone. Just following our inner guidance to do what we came to do here this time around one day at a time.
For the most part, no one teaches us any of this when we are younger and we flounder, stumble, fall again and again, get up again and again and trudge along. But I have found that is all part of it. Bruises, scars, imperfections… well they have kept me humble and real. Many people say “I wish I could go back and know what I know today when I was younger… I would have done things much differently.” I don’t know… I don’t think I would have. I like who I have become and it took all those years and all that struggle to bring me here – to a place where I’m truly Standing in Myself, finally.
As they say… it’s the journey, not the destination. Although I sure hope this journey ends in a heaven… and I hope I get there. In fact, I hope we all get there… because paying these worldly dues has been and is a true bitch at times!
Standing in Yourself ~ From the CD – Spiritually Wet
There’s a place you need to come to
If you want to live in the soul level, in the spirit
There’s a place you need to go to
If you want to live in the soul level, of your spirit
Never worry your life will take you there
Never worry, one day you’ll find you’re
Standing in Yourself
Standing in your song of life
Standing in Yourself
Standing with Spirit as your guide
There’s a place you need to live in
If you want to give from your souls calling, from your spirit
There’s a place you need to dance in
If you want to love from your soul’s passion, from your spirit
Never worry, your life has placed you there
Never worry, look in you’re standing
Standing in Yourself
Standing in your song of life
Standing in Yourself
Standing with Spirit as your guide
Awareness calls you in every step you take
Awareness calls you in every move you make
And you will answer when your time is right
And you will answer when life’s made you ripe
So never worry, never worry
Look at you
You are Standing in Yourself
Standing in your song of life
Standing in Yourself
Standing with Spirit as your guide
Standing in Yourself
Standing in your song of life
Standing in Yourself
Standing....
